The location of Isla Cerralvo along with the mountains creates a unique venturi that has made Bahia de La Ventana one of the most popular places to kiteboard and windsurf. The natural shape of the bay provides safety for beginners and excellent conditions for advanced windsurfers and kitesurfers. The bay hooks around so if you end up downwind, you will always come ashore on a sandy beach. For a fun adventure, start kiteboarding at the Hot Springs north of El Sargento, and head down wind for a few miles to Baja Joe's in La Ventana. Baja Joe's is the place to hang out, watch the action, have a beer, and make some new friends. Baja Joe's has a full service kiteboarding shop, which has an abundance of boards, kites, harnesses and other equipment. They also provide kite and board repair services. |

Thermal winds are generated from mid October though the end of March. November through February are the most popular months for the wind crazed crowd. If you are going to be on the Sea of Cortez, bring a shorty wetsuit for October and November. A 3/2 or 4/3 wetsuit with long legs is recommended for late November though early March. The water on the Pacific is relatively cold all year, so if you plan to play in the surf, bring your warm 3/2 or 4/3.
